Delve into the Wizarding World this Christmas with Bristol Film Festival
Posted on: 13 Nov 2023Taking over one of Bristol’s most beautiful venues for an extra special series of the first three Harry Potter films, this looks all set to be a perfect festive outing.
Bristol Film Festival will host two screenings of each of the first three Harry Potter films at Clifton College Chapel between Saturday 9 and Monday 11 December 2023.
Hold onto your broomsticks witches and wizards and get ready to immerse yourself into the magical world of Harry, Ron and Hermione as they begin their wizarding education in these first three instalments of the legendary series. Marvel as The Philosopher’s Stone, The Chamber of Secrets and The Prisoner of Azkaban are brought to life in a beautiful setting.

At 4 PM and 7.55 PM on Saturday 9 December, Clifton College Chapel will host screenings of Harry Potter & The Philosopher’s Stone. This first instalment of the celebrated series introduces us to the wizarding tale and ‘The Boy Who Lived’ as well as a whole host of great British actors, all debuting their iconic roles.
With screenings at 4 PM and 7.50 PM on Sunday 10 December, it’s time for a screening of Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets. This second edition of the series sees Harry investigating a series of mysterious “petrifications” with decidedly dark consequences.
Taking over the Chapel at 4 PM and 8 PM on Monday 11 December is Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban. Alfonso Cuarón’s Oscar-nominated adaptation introduces us to Sirius Black and is seen by many as a highlight of the series, featuring appearances from British acting royalty in the shape of Gary Oldman, David Thewliss and Timothy Spall.
So, gather your fellow Potterheads for this wonderful Christmas celebration, taking place in the magical surroundings of Clifton College Chapel. A grade II, Gothic Revival style listed building that dates back to 1867, this is about the closest you’ll get to Hogwarts in the whole of Bristol!
