Bristol Beacon to host a Big Jeff art exhibition as part of their grand reopening

Posted on: 12 Oct 2023

Dubbed ‘The Housewarming’, the venue’s reopening will be marked by a huge FREE day-to-night party with more than 60 acts - created by Bristol, for Bristol!

Bristol Beacon’s ‘The Housewarming’ will take place all-day on Saturday 2 December 2023.

As part of the event, Bristol legend Big Jeff’s brand-new exhibition ‘STARE’, “a collection of self-portraits created to express difficult emotions and challenge perceptions”, will run at Bristol Beacon from the reopening party until Sunday 10 December 2023.

This is a FREE event, head to the venue’s website for more information.

The Housewarming event will showcase the wonderful, diverse spectrum of Bristol’s creative community with over 60 acts from grassroots acts to more well-known names. Every corner of Bristol Beacon will be alive with performances, all celebrating the venue’s rebirth with a blend of light, sound and music.

Attendees will be able to catch sets from top acts including Bristol Reggae Orchestra & Windrush Choir, glitch pop extraordinaire BUFFEE, jazz-electronica group Ishmael Ensemble, reggae favourites Da Fuchaman & the Fire Blaze Band, high energy Bhangra outfit RSVP Bhangra and 90s trip hop favourites Up, Bustle & Out.

Other acts appearing are AUGUST, B3nji, Bristol Beacon Youth Ensembles & Community Groups, Elles Bailey, John Stapleton, Kray-Z Legz, Lady Nade, Mallavora, Melissa Fear, Monica Wat, Queen Bee, She Is El Capo, Simon Panrucker, Sisters Of Swing, U-Can-Lele, Vilk Collective, Whiske XMP, x-o1, xyzelle and Yusuf Suave – with more to be announced.

With the refurbishment costing an estimated £132 million, this is your chance to have snoop around with pop, jazz, funk, orchestras and more taking over headline space Beacon Hall, alternative acts and local legends taking to the Lantern Hall stage, a youth takeover in the Cellars and kids activities, poetry, dance, DJs and music running in the foyer.

The Housewarming will take over Bristol Beacon for a full day of FREE music on Saturday 2 December with Big Jeff’s ‘STARE’ show running until Sunday 10 December 2023. Find out more here.
