Bristol Museum & Art Gallery are celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, with an extra special dance event.

 

All Under One Moon, a Moon Festival celebration through dance, will take place at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery this Saturday 23 September 2023.

 

Drawing people together, this beautiful festival is traditional lunar calendar event that honours the harvest moon and reminds us to cherish our loved ones wherever they are. Join Bristol Museum, Guangzhou Song and Dance Theatre and Guangzhou Acrobatic Art Theatre for this extra special 2023 event.

All Under One Moon will feature a series of beautiful performances from world class dancers representing one of Bristol’s Sister Cities, Guangzhou in Southern China. Bringing these stunning performances to Bristol will be Guangzhou Song and Dance Theatre and Guangzhou Acrobatic Art Theatre in association with Visit West and Make it China.

 

The performance is described as a ‘Ballet on Shoulders’ with the programme perfectly combining classical Western ballet and traditional Chinese acrobatics. Not only creating a fresh genre of acrobatic art, this balletic style signals an important moment in worldwide acrobatic history.

 

Ballet on shoulders is renowned for displaying elegant acrobatics and thrilling ballet with the show previously winning the ‘Golden Clown’ award, the highest honour in the acrobatic sphere. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to catch the display and celebrate the Moon Festival!

 

All Under One Moon, a Moon Festival celebration through dance, will take place at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery between 2 PM and 3.15 PM this Saturday 23 September 2023. This is a FREE event suitable for families and children of all ages.

 

 

The event is supported by Cultural Section, China Embassy in the UK; China National Tourist Office London; Bristol & West of England China Bureau; and Bristol City Centre BID, Broadmead BID and Redcliffe and Temple BID.
