This eagerly anticipated on-stage musical production of Roald Dahl’s legendary children’s story is currently engaged on a mammoth UK tour that drops by The Bristol Hippodrome in September.

 

Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: The Musical runs at The Bristol Hippodrome from Wednesday 20 September to Sunday 8 October 2023.

 

Prepare to be transported into a world of true imagination next month when this magical stage show swings into town, featuring sing-along classics from the iconic Gene Wilder-starring movie as well as a slew of originals.

Follow Charlie Bucket, the young boy who wins a golden ticket, leading him to magical world of mysterious confectionary wizard, Willy Wonka. Charlie and his fellow lucky children offered the chance of a guided tour of Wonka’s wacky factory by the man himself, in addition to the promise of unlimited chocolate.

 

At first, this prize seems to be the opportunity of a lifetime, however, greed soon rears its ugly head and the young ticket winners soon discover that everything is not quite as sweet as it seems!

 

David Greig’s stage adaptation of one of the best-loved children’s tales of all time is sure to prove a smash hit sensation when it hits The Bristol Hippodrome in three weeks time. Leading the cast is Gareth Snook, playing the once in a lifetime role of Willy Wonka himself.

 

Speaking about the affect the show will have on audiences, Snook (known for roles in Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables) said: “I hope audiences leave with a tear in the eye and a big smile on their face. I think the production is very moving, especially towards the end, and it is also great fun. I’d love to sit out and watch it myself!”

 

The production is also choc-full of legendary numbers from the iconic 70s movie including ‘The Candy Man’ and ‘Pure Imagination’ as well as a host of new numbers from multi-award-winning composers and lyricists Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Mary Poppins Returns).
