A global phenomenon that has wowed audiences for decades, Jesus Christ Superstar’s legendary rock score was originally a concept album, opening on Broadway in 1971. The original production ran for over 8 years and, by the time it closed, after 3,358 performances, it was the longest-running musical in West End history.

Jesus Christ Superstar has since been reproduced around the world, with productions including a Broadway revival in 2012, an ITV competition show, Superstar, that led to casting Ben Forster as Jesus, and a production at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre markingg 45 years since the musical’s Broadway debut.

Set against the backdrop of Jesus Christ’s final days, as seen through the eyes of Judas, this epic musical reflects the rock roots that defined a generation, with legendary numbers including ‘I Don’t Know How to Love Him’, ‘Gethsemane’ and ‘Superstar’. This production won the 2017 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival and 2016 Evening Standard Award.

The cast for the this latest tour includes Olivier Award-nominated Ian McIntosh as Jesus, Dreamgirls star and newcomer Shem Omari James as Judas, star of Sting’s The Last Ship Hannah Richardson as Mary, TV regular Ryan O’Donnell, returning cast member Jad Habchi as Caiaphas and Matt Bateman as Annas.

In addition to Bristol, the upcoming UK tour of Jesus Christ Superstar will drop by venues in Manchester, Newcastle, Hull, Glasgow, Liverpool, Plymouth, Nottingham, Ipswich, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leicester, Southampton, Norwich, Birmingham, London, Sunderland, Sheffield, Cheltenham, Blackpool and more across 2023 and 2024.
