Following in the footsteps of his father, the world-renowned reggae pioneer Bob Marley, and several of his older siblings, Julian pursued a career as a reggae musician. A multi-instrumentalist, he worked with siblings Stephen, Damian, and Ky-Mani Marley under the banner of the Ghetto Youth Crew.

Julian then went on to establish himself as a solo performer, releasing his debut album, Lion in the Morning, in 1996. The London-born artist has since toured the world with his backing band The Uprising as well as collaborating with various Marley family projects.

He also achieved success playing guitar on Lauryn Hill’s 1998 Grammy award winning masterpiece The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. However, it was not until his critically acclaimed album Awake – released in 2009 – that Julian truly broke into the mainstream, earning a Grammy nomination.

The 48-year old is a devoted Rastafarian whose world renowned music, much like his late father’s, aims to convey a message of legalisation, freedom, and love. Why not celebrate all these themes and more when Julian Marley drops by Bristol in October?

Julian Marley & The Uprising Band will play at Bristol’s SWX on Wednesday 20 October 2023 as part of a limited number of UK dates that will also see the celebrated artist play UK venues in London and Eastbourne. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
