Time running out to secure your tickets to FORWARDS Festival 2023
Posted on: 21 Aug 2023It’s now less than two weeks until the 2023 edition of FORWARDS, with a roster of top acts taking over The Downs for two days of music, discussion, and social initiatives.
FORWARDS Festival will once more take over The Downs, Bristol on Friday 1, and Saturday 2 2023.
With the likes of Eykah Badu, Aphex Twin, Primal Scream and Bonobo all scheduled to play the music stage and big names including BAFTA winning broadcaster David Olusoga in addition to iconic British artist Jerermy Deller leading the lineup for THE INFORMATION at FORWARDS.

Friday’s music lineup will be led by neo-soul icon Erykah Badu, eclectic electronic act Bonobo, dynamic pop artist RAYE, irresistible campy dance duo Confidence, genre bending new-jazz collective Ezra Collective and legendary DJ Goldie.
There will also be appearances from LA based gospel trio Gabriels, soul inspired singer-songwriter Olivia Dean, forward thinking pop artist Biig Piig, Birmingham rapper Wesley Joseph, Bristol favourite Grove, all female folk-pop duo Prima Queen, Jim and local producer and DJ Marla Kether.
The Saturday programme will be spearheaded by sets from experimental techno pioneer Aphex Twin, Screamadelica legends Primal Scream, Mercury Prize winning singer-songwriter Arlo Parks, influential house act Leftfield and 70’s inspired Australian punk rockers Amyl and the Sniffers.
Joining them for FORWARDS’ second day is chaotic Swedish post punk outfit Viagra Boys, electro pop two-piece Jockstrap, Nigerian-born London artist Obongjayer, Bristol’s very own Katy J Pearson, Nottingham singer Yazmin Lacey, Bristolian guitar-driven techno band Scalping, post punk five-piece Saloon Dion and electronic three-piece Intoku.
Headline speakers at FORWARDS on the Friday include BAFTA award winner David Olusoga in conversation with author and journalist Vicky Pratt in addition to British Vogue contributing editor and LGBTQIA+ activist Monroe Bergdorf with author and Gal-dem founder Liv Little.
Saturday’s THE INFORMATION lineup will feature talks between iconic artist Jeremy Deller and artist, raver and founder of clothing brand Sports Banger as well as digital creator Jonny Banger with TikTok influencers and comedians Grace Campbell and Josh Berry.
