Bedminster to host its first ever Bristol Art District Weekender

Posted on: 02 Aug 2023

Later this month, the South Bristol neighbourhood will be celebrating all things creative with a street party and various fringe events to salute local artists, makers, and performers.

The Bristol Art District Weekender will run throughout Bedminster on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 August 2023.

Taking place over two days, this exciting weekender will prove to be an exciting celebration of Bedminster and its thriving creative community. Visitors should expect free craft workshops, performance art, live music, dance, street art, photography and much, much more.

This is a free to attend event, although some individual activities will require payment. Find out more on the event website.

Saturday 19 August will see East Street transformed into an all-day street party to celebrate local creatives. In addition to a buzzing street packed with activity, traders will be invited to animate their venues. The road will be packed with live theatre, choirs, street performers and children’s activities, ensuring that it is an event the whole family can get behind.

On Sunday 20 August, the Weekender activities will be moved inside local venues with a range of FREE workshops, drop in events and entertainment spread around Bedminster in addition to outdoor activities such as street art walks and photography workshops.

The Bristol Art District Weekender is delivered by the City Centre and High Streets Recovery and Renewal programme, funded by Bristol City Council and the West of England Combined Authority’s Love Our High Streets project.

The event features more than 150 murals from national, international and Bristol artists and is home to Upfest, the largest street art festival in Europe. It is also home to over 40 creative businesses including galleries and theatres as well as theatres and bars – art pieces in themselves!

The Bristol Art District Weekender will run throughout Bedminster on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 August 2023. While this is a FREE event, some activities do require payment. Find out more here.
