Eagle-eyed visitors may have wondered why the farm’s play area has been shut in recent times. Last month, the farm announced that it was due to the construction of a new open-air theatre.

This new outdoor space (inspired by the success of various performances last summer) will provide a relaxed and informal environment to consume live art. Organisers have plenty planned, with theatre productions, music events and comedy shows for all ages scheduled. Parents, have no fear as the space will still function as a play area!

Kicking off Windmill Hill City Farm’s summer programme on Thursday 29 June is ‘Fairytales for Grown-ups – The Grateful & The Dead’. Allow renowned storyteller Ben Haggarty to lure you into a full-blooded fairytale for grown-ups. Book tickets here.

This will be followed on Thursday 13 July with the return of Ben Haggarty, this time audaciously reshuffling epic Greek Mythology with ‘Fairytales for Grown-Ups – Atalanta’. Another adult show, Haggarty will tell the tale of a remarkable virgin hunter and Artemis devotee who sure as hell doesn’t want anything to do with men. Book tickets here.

Next up we have a more family-friendly affair with Little Things Theatre’s ‘Koala and Friends at The Garden Theatre’. The sequel to the popular 2022 show ‘Koala and Me’, attendees of all ages are sure to be wowed with a healthy dose of puppets, music and silliness. Book tickets here.

Finally, on Wednesday 16 and Saturday 26 August, Quantum Theatre will be in Bedminster to perform their child-friendly show ‘The Tales of Peter Rabbit & Benjamin Bunny’. Join Peter and his naughty cousin Benjamin at the farm for a hare-raising adventure in this delightful adaptation of Beatrix Potter’s classic tales. Book tickets here.
