A range of exciting non-music activities have been added for Forwards Festival 2023

Posted on: 28 Jul 2023

This week, festival organisers announced a whole host of exciting activities to partner the music programme with skateboarding, children’s entertainment, buskers and more.

Forwards Festival returns to Clifton Downs on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 September 2023.

With a jam-packed schedule of family entertainment set to take place at the festival alongside musical heavyweights including Aphex Twin, Erykah Badu, Bonobo and more, the second edition of this hugely successful event looks to bigger and better than before.

Tickets are still available and can be purchased HERE.

Forwards Festival 2023 will feature a half pipe provided by Campus Skateboarding (a non-profit organisation focused on children and young people), allowing up and coming Tony Hawkes the opportunity to kit themselves up with skateboards and gear as they practice their ollies and air grabs.

There will also be a ‘Buskers Corner’, hosted by Access Creative College, where young people can play musical instruments and brush up on their music skills before taking to the stage for an open-mic performance.

If it’s total shenanigans and non-stop extravagance that you’re after, then look no further than School of Drag. Festival goers can expect inclusive storytelling, stunning catwalks and arts and crafts throughout the weekend from the fabulous Bristol-based collective.

Visitors will soon notice the colourful and welcoming art boards, which will be designed by children at St Paul’s Adventure Playground this August. Those involved in this creative community project will also be in attendance to see their take pride of place.

With such amazing music, activities and sights on offer, Forwards is the place to be for families this September. Attendees can expect Absolute Bounce’s soft play and ball pool, crafting workshops from Let’s Make Art, interactive story telling with Bristol Libraries and much more.

Throughout the weekend, there will also performances on the band stand with a children’s play from Kid Carpet as well as immersive shows from The Adventure Team and, elsewhere, educational science organisation Explorer Dome.

Along with a stellar music lineup and leading discussions from the likes of Munroe Bergdorf, Liv Little and Goldie on the Information Stage, this announcement looks set to propel Forwards from Bristol’s newest festival to one of its best.
