Welsh Back’s iconic Glassboat has finally found new owners

Artisan spirits brand 6 O’clock Gin have today announced that they will be transforming the striking on-the-water venue into a multi-use gin bar.

 

Following the purchase, 6 O’clock Gin will be transforming the Glassboat into an exciting new retail, bar and events space, perfectly positioned amongst Bristol’s beautiful historic harbourside.

 

The reopening of the Glassboat is scheduled for later this summer 2023.

 

 

With a strong local following throughout the South-West, 6 O’clock Gin are eager to make their beloved beverages a staple of central Bristol, offering residents and visitors alike the opportunity to sample top-quality gins and engage in immersive experiences.

 

With a picturesque harbourside background, guests at the new and improved Glassboat will be treated to a stunning setting as they sip on delicious G&Ts and 6 O’clock Gin cocktails. Whether drinking in-house or picking up a bottle to take home, this is sure to prove a central Bristol favourite.

 

The Glassboat will also be hosting a variety of events with gin tastings, cocktail masterclasses and gin blending experiences all planned, allowing attendees a more hands-on, deeper look at the world of 6 O’clock Gin. Speaking about the new venue, the brand’s MD, Paul Sullivan, has said:

 

“We are absolutely thrilled to have purchased the Glassboat, our plan is to retain as many original features as possible while breathing new life into this historic site. The re-launch of the Glassboat marks a significant milestone for us as we are able to bring our 6 O’clock Gin experiences right into the heart of the city.

 

6 O’clock Gin have long been lauded for strikingly smooth artisan gins, handcrafted in small batches and, like their iconic blue bottles paying tribute to Bristol’s rich heritage, the Glassboat provides the company with the opportunity to stamp their name into the iconic harbourside.
