Beloved children’s author Michael Rosen to perform show just outside Bristol

Marking the beginning of the summer holidays, award-winning children’s writer Michael Rosen is dropping by Frome for two very special performances later this month.

 

Michael Rosen will appear at the Cheese & Grain in Frome on Monday 24 July 2023.

 

One of Britain’s best-loved writers, Michael Rosen will be performing some of his renowned poetry in a show recommended for key stage 2 (aged 7+) with adults and younger children also welcome. The event will also include a Q&A as well as some book signings.

Over the years, Michael Rosen has published more than 140 books, including classics We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and A Great Big Cuddle, as well as garnering over 55 million views on his YouTube Channel ‘Kids Poems and Stories with Michael Rosen’. 

 

Recently appearing on BBC Breakfast and The Repair Shop, the number one selling children’s author’s visit to Frome coincides with his receiving the PEN Pinter Prize, which is awarded to those whose work is committed to a fearless exposition of truth about contemporary.

 

In addition to his writing, Rosen is currently a Professor of Children’s Literature at Goldsmiths and is also a renowned broadcaster who has presented BBC Radio 4’s acclaimed language programme ‘Word of Mouth’ since 1998 as well as presenting various other radio documentaries.

 

Rosen has published almost 200 books for both adults and children, including The Sad Book with Quentin Blake (an exploration of grief written after the loss of his son, Eddie), We’re Going on a Bear Hunt (now a Channel 4 animated film) and A Great Big Cuddle, as well as poetry and non-fiction works for adults.

 

The writer’s incredible output has been recognised through several awards, including various honorary degrees, as well as the Eleanor Farjeon Award for an outstanding contribution to children’s literature. Rosen was also Children’s Laureate between 2007 and 2009.
