Visitors should prepare themselves for ‘Beyond Submergence’, a journey through light, space, and sound from the celebrated art collective, Squidsoup.

Beyond Submergence will run at Propyard from Saturday 1 July 2023.

This world-first 20,000 sq ft exhibition brings together a selection of Cheltenham-based collective Squidsoup’s award-winning artworks for the first time with tickets on sale from mid-May.

For more information and to sign up for pre-sale, head to the Beyond Submergence website.

Squidsoup have released a statement detailing what visitors can expect when Beyond Submergence takes over Propyard in July: “You are about to enter a different kind of space, an experience you may not be familiar with. Take the time - before you begin to forget the outside world - to relax and open yourself to the unexpected.

“Get accustomed to a slower pace, and prepare your eyes and ears, for these artworks are about light, sound, space... allow your mind to wander, to follow through with the associations that may come to it; explore them, enjoy the evocations, feelings and memories they bring.”

Masters of light, space, sound, scale, movement, and technology, Squidsoup build immersive experiences that draw an emotional response from visitors. With various travelling artworks in their coveted portfolio, which always pull a crowd, five of their largest pieces are now being brought together for the first time.

Beyond Submergence will utilise Propyard’s vast industrial space, welcoming guests to explore a sequential series of works. Designed to be seen in groups from any angle, the artworks are at once inclusive and immersive, blurring the boundaries between art and environment.

“Starting with a gentle calmness, the atmosphere moves through melancholia and joy, using increased scale, edge, brightness and volume to reach a final crescendo where visitors are encompassed with sound and light. By entering into the orbit of a piece, they become part of the experience, a part of the work.” – Squidsoup.

Further details of specific artworks will be announced forthwith with tickets going on sale in mid-May. Tickets are limited and sure to sell out fast so sign up for pre-sale HERE.

Located on Feeder Road, Propyard is a massive industrial venue that creates a space for creativity, culture, and shared experience. A transformed former MOD torpedo testing factory, Propyard is now a fully accessible centre for art, music, food and collaboration.
