Bristolian music lovers can expect a sun-soaked set of upbeat lyrics and colourful performance when MIKA takes over the city’s beautiful harbourside this summer.

 

MIKA will play at Canons Marsh Amphitheatre as part of Bristol Sounds on Wednesday 21 June 2023.

 

The much loved Lebanese-born singer-songwriter will kick off a run of shows that are sure to live long in the mind with multi-instrumentalist YouTube sensation Jacob Collier, legendary rock band James, folk-rock favourites Levellers and unapologetic pop star Self Esteem all playing massive shows.

With a slew of massive hits including ‘Grace Kelly’, ‘Relax, Take It Easy’, ‘Big Girl (You Are Beautiful’, ‘Happy Ending’ and ‘Lollipop’, MIKA’s penchant for vibrant pop has seen the artist break the barrier between outsider artist and chart-topping superstar.

 

On 2007’s larger-than-life single ‘Grace Kelly’, which topped the UK charts, the singer successfully channelled his vibrant, multi-octave voice and skilful lyricism which reflected the trauma of his early life to create a certified pop sensation. 

 

The triumph of albums such as Life in Cartoon Motion (2007) and The Boy Who Knew Too Much (2009) characterised MIKA as a larger-than-life outcast icon, gaining legendary status in the industry with lofty comparisons to the likes of Elton John, Freddie Mercury and Prince.

 

MIKA’s Wednesday night show will kick off Bristol Sounds 2023 in celebratory style with sets from Jacob Collier, James and Self Esteem to follow as well as a special all-dayer event on the Saturday entitled ‘A Beautiful Day Out’ that will feature the likes of Levellers, The Selector, Black Grape, Peat & Diesel and Goldie Lookin Chain.
