‘Dreams’ star set to support Lionel Richie for massive Somerset show

Gabrielle has been announced as the special guest for the legendary Grammy Award-winning artist’s upcoming open-air concert at the Somerset County Cricket Ground.

 

Lionel Richie and Gabrielle play the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton on Sunday 11 June.

 

This year celebrating the 30th anniversary of her debut single ‘Dreams’ - which reached Number One in the UK Charts - Gabrielle is known for her incredible soul style with a slew of hits including ‘Out of Reach’, ‘Sunshine’, and ‘Should I Stay’.

These smash hits have seen Gabriella win two BRITs (Best British Female and Best British Breakthrough) and an impressive selection of other prominent awards. After being nominated on 5 separate occasions, she finally won an Ivor Novello Award in 2008 with the prestigious accolade for Outstanding Song Collection.

 

This June, Gabrielle will share a Somerset stage with one of music’s true greats. Lionel Richie’s music is part of the fabric of popular culture with more than 125 million albums sold worldwide. Richie has won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and four Grammy Awards - he was last year inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

 

Last year the legendary artist received the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song from the American Library of Congress, making him only the 12th recipient of the prestigious award. 

 

 

The Lionel Richie songbook features an abundance of mega-hits, including: ‘All Night Long’, ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’, ‘Hello’, ‘Endless Love’, ‘Lady’, ‘Truly’, ‘Penny Lover’, ‘Stuck on You’, ‘Say You, Say Me’, making him one of music’s best-loved music stars of all time.

It provides the Club with an opportunity to showcase not only what the Cooper Associates County Ground is capable of, but also what the South-West region has to offer. “The event will bring people from all over the country to Taunton and will no doubt benefit businesses here with a welcome boost after three challenging years.”
