Formed by Lydon (better known as Johnny Rotten) in 1978 following the messy disbandment of groundbreaking punk band The Sex Pistols, Public Image Ltd was an ever-changing project which allowed the notorious frontman to explore his radical ideas without any resistance.

Officially abbreviated to PiL, the shapeshifting nature of the band’s extensive output can be seen in the bass-heavy post-punk of 1978’s Public Image: First Issue, the krautrock-dub fusion in 1979’s Metal Box, the burly alternative rock of 1986’s Album, or the dance-friendly pop of 9 (1989) – a truly unique concoction of influences.

Despite the group’s constantly changing lineup and approach to their craft, Lydon’s bitter, angry and witty character has given PiL a thematic through line that endures to this day with their upcoming record, End of World, sure to prove a success with fans all over the country.

In addition to their Bristol show, PiL will drop by venues in Nottingham, Glasgow, Norwich, Birmingham, London, Brighton, Frome, Southampton, Belfast, Dublin, Leeds, and Manchester as well as a number of cities around Europe. Visit the band’s website for more information about live dates.
