The Motion team launch brand-new venue and creative space
Posted on: 22 Feb 2023Named Document Bristol, the venue is a multi-faceted central Bristol space offering a creative community hub for the city’s underground art, music, and experimental communities.
Once a document storage facility (hence the name), this dramatic industrial unity contains five separate zones including an event space, coworking studios, a bar, offices, and a gym.

The new Document site includes five separate spaces: Facility (a 3,000-capacity event space), Studio (1,000 sq metre coworking studios), Record (main bar and breakout space), Gallery (a 500 sq metre coworking space and gym) and Concept (a contemporary stripped back bespoke office space).
All these features are uniquely different but pulled together into one space, with the aim of redefining coworking and offering artists, freelancers and small businesses the opportunity to collaborate and become part of Bristol’s vibrant creative community.
Martin Page (owner and director of Document and Motion Events Ltd, pictured below) explains the venue’s story thus:
“We took hold of the former AVIVA document storage warehouse in January 2019. We saw the opportunity to breathe life into a building that had laid empty for a decade in a key central Bristol location.
“My business partner and I started the task of populating its many halls and rooms with artists, professionals, and creatives. Covid saw us shut down the site with a skeleton crew where commercial projects from Netflix and the BBC helped us stay afloat.
“Fast forward to 2023, we've now filled all the studios and offices with creative types and local businesses. And now, with Motion and the Marble factory as our guide, we're planning some shows for our large 3,000-capacity venue Facility and bespoke cocktail area Record.”
Available to hire now, Document has already been transformed into a unique club space for the ever-popular Alfresco Disco’s unforgettable NYE rave - pictured above. Document has all the ingredients for an exciting 2023 with a massive season of live and electronic events already planned.
