Harnessing live music and ideas to bring people together, FORWARDS Festival will make its highly anticipated return to Bristol Downs on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 September 2023.

In preparation for FORWARDS’ return in September, Trinity Centre will host a special exhibition focusing on emerging talent entitled ‘Capture FORWARDS Exhibition’. The event will take place later this week, between Thursday 23 and Saturday 25 February.

Following an immensely popular inaugural edition, audiences can once more expect a platform for social purpose and debate on Bristol Downs alongside a stunning line-up of some of the top musical stars from around the world – the eagerly anticipated music programme will be announced soon!

Last year, organisers invited emerging photographers to apply to take part in Capture FORWARDS. A project organised in collaboration with Big Team CIC, Capture aimed to provide entry into the music, events and festival industry to those who historically haven't been able to access it.

Four up-and-coming photographers took part in a workshop and mentorship programme with industry professionals, which culminated in a paid placement in the media team over the FORWARDS 2022 weekend. Each participant is now working as a photographer in the industry.

The exhibition later this week will feature work from up-and-coming talents Naomi Williams, Megan Tsz Kiu Ip, Jade Ayino and Ismael Abdi. Presented by FORWARDS and Big Team CIC at Trinity Centre, Bristolians are invited to experience the 2022 festival through the eyes of the Capture cohort.

Speaking about Capture FORWARDS, Megan Tsz Kiu Ip said: “Capture Forwards was my first opportunity at festival photography, and it was the perfect platform for me to stretch my photography skills and connect with fellow creatives. After Capture FORWARDS, I have gotten more opportunities to photograph events and I’m grateful to those who made the program possible.”

This exhibition will take place at Trinity this later week, beginning with a private view on the evening of Thursday 23 before opening to the public on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 February from 10 AM until 5 PM.

With the FORWARDS Festival 2023 lineup announcement just around the corner, the first weekend of September is sure to prove a highlight of Bristol’s cultural calendar. Sign up for pre-sale HERE.
