Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty reawakens for the tenth anniversary of its premiere at Sadlers Wells when it became the company’s fastest-selling production ever. 

 

Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty runs at The Bristol Hippodrome from Tuesday 28 until Saturday 4 March.

 

An absolute classic of the New Adventures programme, this award-winning production of this classic tale has enchanted audiences all over the world. Featuring an unforgettable score from Tchaikovsky, this is a show not to be missed.

Enter a wondrously Gothic world of magical fairies and vampires, where the timeless tale of good versus evil is turned upside-down, the result being a miraculous love story that even the passage of time itself cannot impede. Will Princess Aurora ever find her true love again?

 

Audiences at The Bristol Hippodrome will be transported back in time to the late Edwardian era through to the modern day in this dazzling romance. 

 

Performed to a stunning score from Tchaikovsky, beautiful sets and costumes, evocative lighting, and masterly storytelling, this endlessly adored fairy tale is brought to life by the uniquely talented New Adventures company.

After premiering at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth in 2012, the production ran for 8 weeks over the Christmas season at Sadler’s Wells before going on to tours of the UK, Russia, Italy and the UK. Sleeping Beauty is New Adventures’ fastest-selling show of all time.

 

Matthew Bourne and New Adventures have delighted audiences since 1986 with the iconic, ground-breaking dance theatre company famed for its unique storytelling ability. Over the years, New Adventures have received numerous international awards and 12 Olivier Award nominations – including 6 wins.

 

As well as Bristol, 2023 will see Matthew Bourne Sleeping Beauty appear at theatre venues in Bradford, Liverpool, Southampton, Canterbury, Norwich, Edinburgh, Newcastle and Amsterdam.
