Praise the lord because the critically acclaimed musical Jesus Christ Superstar is embarking on a UK tour across 2023 and 2024.
Jesus Christ Superstar will run at Bristol Hippodrome from Monday 11 until Saturday 16 March 2024.
Following a succession of lauded and sold-out runs in London as well as an extensive US tour, the Olivier Award-winning reimagined production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Time Rice’s celebrated musical will be travelling around the UK and Ireland, stopping off in Bristol along the way.

A global phenomenon that has wowed audiences for decades, Jesus Christ Superstar’s iconic score was first released as a concept album and opened on Broadway in. The original London production ran for over eight years, becoming the longest-running musical in West End history at the time.
The musical has been reproduced many times all over the world, with performances including a Broadway revival in 2012, an ITV competition show called Superstar that led to the casting of Ben Forster as Jesus in the show’s arena tour, and a production at Regent’s Park celebrating 45 years since the musical’s Broadway debut.
Jesus Christ Superstar takes a look at the final weeks of the life of Jesus Christ through the unique gaze of Judas. Reflecting the rock roots that defined a generation, the legendary score includes ‘I Don’t Know How to Love Him’, ‘Gethsemane’ and ‘Superstar’.
Featuring a score from Emmy, GRAMMY, Oscar and Tony winners Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, this production originated from the Regent’s Park production and is directed by Timothy Sheader and choreographed by Drew McOnie.
The production also won the 2017 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival and the 2016 Evening Standard Award for Best Musical. It was shown at the Barbican in 2019 before returning to Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre as a concert in the summer of 2020.
As part of the upcoming tour of the UK and Ireland, Jesus Christ Superstar will appear at theatres in Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Liverpool, Nottingham, Ipswich, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leicester, Bristol, Southampton, Norwich, Birmingham, Dublin, Sunderland, Sheffield, and Blackpool among others.
