Now an undisputed household name, Michael McIntyre’s big break came back in 2006 when the observational, self-deprecating comic performed in front of television cameras at the esteemed Royal Variety Performance.
Since then, McIntyre has not looked back, becoming one of the most successful comedians in the world, embarking on tours that regularly sell over 4 million tickets. To this day, he holds the record for the highest-selling artist at London’s O2 Academy, the biggest arena in the UK, for 28 sold out shows.
He is also on UK television screens regularly, hosting BBC One’s Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow from 2009. The show was a massive success, receiving several BAFTA nominations and winning the National Television Award for Best Entertainment Programme.
In 2016, Michael McIntyre’s Big Show hit BBC One; now in its sixth series, the show has won a plethora of television awards. Then, in 2020, the comedian devised and hosted Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel which has been nominated for BAFTA and NTA Awards and returns later this year for a third series.
As well as Bristol, Michael McIntyre’s ‘Macnificent’ tour will visit venues in Bournemouth, Brighton, Dublin, Leeds, Swansea, Cardiff, Plymouth, Nottingham, Newcastle, Manchester, London, Liverpool, Hull, Sheffield, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Belfast before heading to North America.
‘Macnificent’ will be at The Bristol Hippodrome from Wednesday 6 until Friday 8 September.
