Christmas 2022 at Bristol Improv Theatre

Posted on: 08 Dec 2022

Christmas at the UK’s first dedicated improv theatre is well underway with a Santa’s sack full of wholesome and off-the-cuff festive fun.

Between now and the end of the year, Bristol Improv Theatre has their Sh!t Art Club Christmas, Crappy Craft Club Christmas Special, and a final La La Bar of 2023 all scheduled.

However, the real highlight of the period is the theatre’s annual December show ‘Christmas – The Improvised Christmas Romcom’, running from next Saturday 17 until Friday 23 December.

To find out more about Bristol Improv Theatre, head to their website.

On Saturday 10 December (from 1 PM until 2 PM) prospective (awful) artists can take part in Bristol Improv Theatre’s ‘Sh!t Art Club Christmas’, the only art club where you deliberately make bad art.

An eccentric host will lead you through your creative paces until you find yourself staring at the worst piece of art of all time in this immersive show. This afternoon event will perfectly blend an art workshop with the absurdity of interactive comedy theatre. Grab your tickets here.

Next up, on Monday 12 December between 7 PM and 9 PM, the ‘Crappy Craft Club Christmas Special’ will see Twin Made theatre company cross the Severn Bridge to deliver a merry evening of making festive decorations with times from a local scrap store.

This is a fun-filled session so there’s no pressure to be perfect, feel free to go wild! Buy tickets here.

Running between Saturday 17 and Friday 23 December, Bristol Improv Theatre’s ‘An Unexpected Christmas – The Improvised Christmas Romcom’ will be getting improv lovers into the holiday spirit.

Each performance will see the audience presented with a fresh festive production featuring a range of quirky characters, tempestuous relationships and innumerable obstacles, coming together to create a new cheesy Christmas romcom every night.

This romantic, hilarious Christmas extravaganza could transport the audience anywhere and partner with Barrelhouse Bristol and their delicious Detroit-style pizza, this is an event you don’t want to miss. Tickets can be found here.

The final event of the holidays will be the Betwixmas 'La La Bar' at 8 PM on Wednesday 28 December. The final event of the year will see a musical theatre open mic night with live piano accompaniment.

From performance pros to absolute beginners, this is a welcome-all night where anyone can get on stage to share their favourite songs and stories. Grab your ticket here.

The UK’s first dedicated improv theatre, Bristol Improv Theatre teach, create and perform spontaneous pieces that are accessible, ambitious and entertaining in the heart of Clifton.
