Posted on: 28 Nov 2022

Playing their first-ever Bristol show, the award-winning electronic duo are all set to spearhead a killer line up of DnB talent on Bristol’s famous boat.

Koven will be joined by goddard, Emily Makis, Viridity, Juma and Jaydrop//Georgia at Thekla on Friday 16 December.

Thekla have a busy schedule between now and the end of 2023 with one of the key nights being popular local promoters The Blast’s December takeover – fans can expect top-quality tunes from one of Bristol’s best soundsystems.

Headliners Koven (Max Rowat and Katie Boyle) have become one of the main forces in UK DnB over recent years thanks to their energetic brand of cinematic bass. Forming in London back in 2011, the two-piece’s debut album Butterfly Effect was nominated for Best Album at the 2020 Drum & Bass Arena awards.

Koven will be joined by fellow producer goddard who, over the past two years, has amassed a strong following. With a grounding in DnB, goddard’s output straddles genres such as house, techno and ambient with influences ranging from Chase & Status to Bonobo.

Also on the bill is Emily Makis. With an emotive voice described as “heavenly” and “enthralling” by DJ mag, the young vocalist is a regular on tracks from some of electronic music’s most explosive talents. Makis has been supported heavily by BBC Radio 1 and 1XTRA, who have earmarked her as one to watch.

Another exciting artist appearing at Thekla next month is DnB producer, DJ and vocalist Viridity. With a focus on liquid, the busy Bristol artist takes inspiration from Jungle and tek.

Rounding off this stacked lineup is a back-to-back set from two of The Blast’s resident artists. Jaydrop is a Bristol producer who has always gained support from renowned electronic artists. He will be joined by one of the city’s most versatile selectors in the shape of Georgia, who has wowed crowds as big as Glastonbury’s Arcadia in the past.
