Wild Place Project’s Winter Walking Safari begins next Saturday

Animal lovers of all ages are invited to wrap up warm and head over to Wild Place Project over the next to months to take part in a very special magical adventure.

 

Wild Place’s Winter Walking Safari begins on Saturday 3 December and ends on Sunday 8 January.

 

The family attraction - that will be transformed into the new Bristol Zoo in 2024 – is well known for providing a blend of outdoor adventure, play and learning and this seasonal safari promises to be no different.

Attendees young and old can experience the beautiful nature trails this winter, spotting amazing animals from all over the world along the way. The Winter Walking Safari is the ideal December activity to get you into the Christmas spirit – if it snows you may even see the woodlands covered in snow.

 

Young visitors are also advised to bring their binoculars and get ready to play the role of explorer for a day. For the special winter trail, kids of all ages will follow clues to find safari scenes, collecting fascinating animal and conservation facts along the way.

 

Father Christmas’ reindeer will also be making an appearance at Wild Place this festive period. Visitors will be able to say hello to Santa’s hardworking helpers and get a photo to remember of the reindeer’s specially decorated stable. Reindeer talks will also be taking place.

In addition, Wild Place will be hosting fun and festive craft-making sessions in their Bear Wood Classroom. You’ll be able to learn how to make sustainable Christmas decorations as well as papier-mâche presents for the animals. These sessions run from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM during the festive period.

 

Parents will also be able to take a step away from the action with a range of festive food, gifts and songs on offer. Saturday 17 December sees choirs from all over the city performing Christmas songs, mince pies and mulled wine will be available near the café and the Wild Place shop will be open throughout.

 

All this will take place take place from Saturday 3 December, however, it’s not only festive delights that visitors can explore. There is so much to discover at the sprawling 50-acre site (equivalent to 25 football pitches) with a dense population of animals including bears, wolves, giraffes, and lemurs as well as native wildlife.
