Bristol’s very own Shaun the Sheep is coming home next month… With a live orchestra

Posted on: 01 Nov 2022

This November, Carrot Productions and Aardman are collaborating to present the world premiere of Shaun the Sheep in Concert in one of Bristol’s most famous buildings.

Two performances of Shaun the Sheep in Concert will take place at Wills Memorial Grand Hall on Sunday 27 November.

This baa-rilliant frolic through the life and adventures of Aardman’s beloved sheep will be brought to life by some of the UK’s top musicians, coming together for one night only to form the appropriately named ‘Mossy Bottom Philharmonic’.

Tickets are available now from £11.25 and can be purchased HERE.

A firm family favourite since the series’ onscreen debut in 2007, Shaun the Sheep is known all over the world for its slapstick comedy approach, trademark Aardman style and quirky anthropomorphic characters.

However, Shaun first appeared on television all the way back in 1995 in Nick Park’s Academy Award-winning Wallace and Gromit film A Close Shave, before being handed his own show 12 years later.

Spiritually a black sheep despite the colour of his wool, Shaun does not follow the herd. Actually, he drags his friends into all kinds of sticky situations, turning the peaceful valley into a mad meadow.

It is, therefore, no surprise that things go wrong at the upcoming concert when Bitzer (Shaun’s long-suffering sheep dog friend) loses his whistle in mysterious circumstances. It appears that one of the musicians is the thief, so help will be needed to get to the bottom of this musical crime.

Ngaio Harding-Hill (Aardman’s Head of Attractions & Live Experiences) has said of the event: “Aardman is delighted to be partnering with Carrot Productions to bring our Shaun the Sheep seasonal classic – The Flight Before Christmas– alongside lots of new Shaun content to live audiences in this festive, orchestral show.

“We hope the show will become an annual tradition with family audiences, following our successful partnership with Carrot Productions, delivering Wallace & Gromit in Concert to global audiences.”

Sunday 27 November will see 2 performances take place, one at 4 PM and another at 6:15 PM, both at Wills Memorial Building. A Shaun the Sheep model-making workshop with an Aardman expert will also be available to concert ticket holders. A fun, hands-on session for both children and adults, sessions will take place at 12:30 PM, 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM.
