Split between The Cube and Watershed, Doc’n Roll Film Festival 2022 features a mix of premieres and director Q&As, as well as a very special DJ set.

The UK-wide music documentary festival is returning to Bristol in November with an exciting selection of films.

Bristol’s screenings will take place from Saturday 29 October until Friday 11 November and tickets for the individual showings can be found on the respective venues’ websites.

Founded in 2013, Doc'n Roll is a female-led film agency that platforms and champions marginal voices in the music industry. For years now, the organisation have displayed a passion for independent film and music of all genres.

Through their work, they have consistently championed music subcultures by providing a unique platform to support creative, compelling, and unforgettable documentaries that celebrate often underappreciated performers, labels, scenes, and stories.

The 9th edition of Doc'n Roll Film Festival will take place across London cinemas as well as 11 regional cities simultaneously from 27 October to 13 November 2022, with Bristol as one of the locations.

First up in Bristol is This Is National Wake at Watershed on Saturday 29 October; the documentary is directed by veteran New York music journalist Mirissa Neff and follows the eponymously named, multi-racial three-piece as they dare to make music together in a racist South African regime that would have them arrested for doing so.

This screening is coupled with a Q&A and also features a DJ set. Tickets are available here.

Next is ENERGY: A Documentary About Damo Suzuki at The Cube on Friday 4 November. The former frontman of krautrock legends CAN and acclaimed director Michelle Heighway have been working together for years with a stunning film detailing Suzuki’s ongoing struggle with cancer and never-ending world tour the result.
