Posted on: 18 Aug 2022

With just over a week to go until the debut of Bristol's brand new music festival, organisers have announced an exciting range of children's activities to make Forwards a proper family affair.

Forwards Festival 2022 will run between Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 September.

Already boasting a musical lineup including The Chemical Brothers and Jamie XX among others as well as a special 'changemakers' programme that will see the likes of Jay Rayner and John Barnes interviewed, Forwards have supplemented the jam-packed programme further with a selection of kids activities and acts.

Tickets for the festival are still available and can be purchased here.

Magical music hall legend The Great Bandini will spearhead the exciting Kids Area lineup along with UK-based arts charity The Flying Seagull Project and their team of play and laughter specialists featuring trained clowns, musicians, entertainers and actors.

Joining them will be Explorer Dome, a portable planetarium and accompanying team that presents exciting and interactive science shows for children of all ages as well as Twisted Theatre (pictured below), the immersive theatre company that creates chaos at festivals all over the country with a range of ridiculous participatory fun games and breathtaking walkabout performances.

Also at Forwards this year are The Badge Badgers, children can come and sit with the badgers and help create their own little piece of art that will then be converted into a pin badge. Bristol-based children's art organisation Let's Make Art will also be leading creative workshops with children and their parents.

Another children's entertainment workshop, Junkfish (pictured below), will also be in attendance this year offering a wonderful range of 'make and take' activities, all carefully prepared using mostly recycled materials and supervised by their helpful, friendly staff.

Kid's Open Mic will be offering kids between 12 and 18 the chance to sing their hearts out and outdo the likes of Charli XCX and Self Esteem.

Touring children's theatre company Rhubarb Theatre, Bristol's Get Free Dance Therapy and a special ball pool and soft play round off the thrilling selection of kid's activities available at this year's festival.

This - along with the musical lineup of Little Simz, Khruangbin, Kojey Radical, Caribou, Sleaford Mods etc - makes the inaugural Forwards look like the perfect outing for all the family.

Tickets for the festival, which runs from Saturday 3 till Sunday 4 September, are on the last release and can be found here.
