Encounters is the UK’s leading short film, animation and virtual reality festival, providing an international platform for celebrating talent and innovation in short film, animation and virtual reality.

Each film - made by filmmakers from the UK, France, Norway and Belgium - screened took the top prize in their respective categories at the organisation's annual film awards in 2021.

Clocking in at 17-minutes, Sarah Arnold's 'Store Policy' - which follows a shop worker who discovers the underlying violence of the workplace - is the longest title, with Inari Sirola's 'Eating in The Dark' - a journey of self discovery in a mind-bending forest - the shortest at just nine minutes.

Meltse Van Coillies' 'Zonder Meer', following young girl Lucy as she tries to make sense of tragic happenings around her will also be screened, as will Robin Jensen's 'Farce' - a story of passion following a man trying to save his reindeer herd and the woman he desires.

Organisers have provided following content warnings: violence against animals, nudity, sex, physical violence and psychological violence.

The event will take place at the much loved harbourside cinema, Watershed - celebrating its 40th birthday this year.  As always, the venue has organised an intriguing evening of film in a typically welcoming and comfortable setting.
