'Go Gentle' gigs return after long break

Posted on: 05 Aug 2022

The relaxed gigs in calm settings will return to the Old Market venue this month.

Following a long break, Exchange's 'Go Gentle' gigs - a series cosy shows by touring bands and local performers designed to help people enjoy live music in a calmer atmosphere - will return on Saturday 13 August.

Presented in collaboration with Eat Up, Perkie and Frank Parris will take to the stage at the usual time of 14:00 for this return, with tickets available on a pay-what-you-can basis.

Visit Exchange's website to find more information about this event and to purchase tickets.

Alongside August's 'Go Gentle' gig, organisers have announced a further date in October (15), when Sam Russo and other guests will perform. Tickets are once again available on a pay-what-you-can basis.

Open to everyone, the relaxed format is designed for people with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, sensory or communication disorders, a Learning Disability, those with age-related impairments and parents/carers with babies or young children.

Sound at 'Go Gentle' gigs is adjusted, reducing the volume and any loud effects. Lighting is also altered, with the auditorium remaining dimly lit throughout the gig and any lighting/strobe effects will be slowed down.

The venue's capacity will also be reduced, leaving lots of space for standing attendees and a variety of furniture will be available for those who wish to enjoy the music seated.

Staff will always be on hand to lend support if it is needed and ask that gig-goers respect their peers by being supportive of how they express enjoyment.

More information about 'Go Gentle' gigs and how to get your hands on tickets can be found via Exchange's website.
