Posted on: 27 Jul 2022

Help one of the region's biggest food charities reach as many people as possible.

FareShare South West has today (Wednesday 27 July) issued a call out via Twitter in search of volunteer van drivers.

Based in BS2, the organisation is looking for people to commit a minimum of two days a month to help them drive out hunger.

Head to FareShare's website for more information and to apply. Alternatively, email volunteer@faresharesouthwest.org.uk.

FareShare South West is one of 21 branches located across the country, forming a nationwide community of independent charities aiming to tackle food waste and hunger.

More than 270,000 tonnes of perfectly edible food is thrown away every year in the UK. FareShare aim to save much of this waste and take action against food poverty by redistributing it to those in need.

Between October 2021 and January 2022, the project distributed enough food to make more than a million meals, directly supporting over 40,000 people across the South West.

The organisation is currently looking for volunteer van drivers to help make sure this food reaches the right hands.

For more information about this volunteering role and others, and to fill in your application, head to the charity's website.

Alternatively, find the team on Twitter to follow news and updates on their ongoing efforts to secure food support for people in need across the South West.
