Posted on: 21 Jul 2022

The staple Bristol organisation has put together two exciting programmes for young musicians at its BS10 music centre.

This summer, running in August and September respectively, Bristol Beacon will host its 'Summer School' programmes: 'Music Factory' and 'Sound Bites' - both designed to teach new skills and foster enjoyment through creation.

Open to complete beginners and existing learners, both programmes will introduce students to new musical styles and instruments at Bristol Beacon Music Centre in Southmead.

More information and details about how to enrol can be found via Bristol Beacon's website.

A primary focus of Bristol Beacon is to create learning opportunities for young people in the city. Over 30,000 enjoy the organisation's creative learning programmes every year, largely held at Bristol Beacon Music Centre in Southmead.

Running from Monday 22 August until Friday 26 August, 'Music Factory', the first of Bristol Beacon's two Summer School programmes, is aimed at young people that have never held an instrument before or are still novices.

A plethora of popular instruments, ranging from guitars to drums and keyboards, will be provided along with tuition. Attendees will get the opportunity to try all of the available instruments and showcase their newfound skills in a short performance showcase at the end of the week.

The second programme, entitled 'Sound Bites', is geared towards more experienced young musicians and will each day focus on a different genre of music, allowing students to experience a broad range of musical styles.

Running from Tuesday 30 August until Friday 2 September, students can enrol on a live soundtrack workshop, a Klezmer (the music of East European weddings and festivities) workshop, or a Blues workshop.

All necessary information and enrollment instructions can be found on Bristol Beacon's website.
