Throughout her six years in music, Emily Magpie has demonstrated her unique ability to construct an extraordinary shimmering soundscape as brooding swirls of electronics and effervescent melodies beautifully complement the multifaceted songwriting.
Born and bred in Bristol, the artist and producer has had a remarkable recent ascendency, being championed by the likes of Tom Robinson and various music publications as well as appearing as a supporting prominent acts like This Is The Kit and Let’s Eat Grandma. Her 2018 track ‘Last Train' has already surpassed 90,000 listens on Spotify.
She is a regular feature of festival lineups up and down the UK and is already booked in to return to Boomtown and Green Man this summer with appearances at Bristol Harbourside Festival, Altitude and Bluedot also scheduled.
The upcoming release, ‘ReFocus’, is a pulsating single that explores the energy of public protest. Sampling chants from the BLM protests in Bristol, it demonstrates an inventive approach to production that marks Emily Magpie as a true innovator who is willing to push the boundaries of her art to its limits.

Speaking about the influence behind the track, the artist said this:
“I remember the energy of the call and response in the crowd, how a new chant would spark and spread and build and build and the feeling of it growing in that moment and knowing it was growing globally was incredible. There was a feeling of change and anger and possibility, and I thought how vital that energy is. How vital protest is for democracy.”
‘ReFocus’ is set for release on Wednesday 13 July via Silent Kid Records and is taken from Emily Magpie’s upcoming EP, When The Space Between Was So Much Less – coming out on Friday 12 August.
The dream-pop artist and producer has a busy summer planned, with opportunities for Bristol fans to see her support Mutant-Thoughts at The Crown on Tuesday 12 July (tickets available here) and Bristol Harbourside Festival on Saturday 16 July.
