LUMP to stop in Bristol on their latest tour

Posted on: 12 Aug 2021

The duo will stop at the Trinity Centre on the third leg of an intimate five-date tour to celebrate the release of their second album, Animal.

LUMP, the collaborative project of Laura Marling and Mike Lindsay of Tunng, marries their two distinct styles; Marling's blend of folk and wry lyricism and Lindsay's synth soundscapes and captivating percussion, to create something vivid and psychedelic.

Their latest effort, recorded at Lindsay's home studio in Margate, Kent, is the first new music from the pair since releasing their eponymous debut in 2018.

Once again, their worlds marry together seamlessly, with Animal kicking the duo's partnership to the next level after their debut, LUMP.

The new record was released to acclaim, perhaps due to the fact that the pair stuck doggedly to the winning formula that made its eponymous predecessor a hit.

Marling would arrive at the studio having not heard any of Lindsay's music in the hope that their output would be given a sense of immediacy and spontaneity, which proved to be a wise call.

In a statement, Marling said: “There’s a little bit of a theme of hedonism on the album, of desires running wild ... through LUMP we find our inner animal, and through that animal, we travel into a parallel universe.”

LUMP will perform at the Trinity Centre on Friday 3 September 2021. To grab some tickets, click here.
