Gigs are back! Swap the screens for the real thing because live streams are finally a thing of the past.

As we enter the first full, uninterrupted month of live music since the pandemic began, let yourself get carried away at the thought of being back at the foot of a stage.

Here are eight gigs happening this August to get you back in the swing of things.

Snazzback @ The Pergola | Wednesday 11 August

Bristol jazz group Snazzback close their tour celebrating the release of their latest album, In The Place - a typically infectious blend of composition and loose improvisation - at The Pergola this month.

The launch tour with Worm Discs will feature extended and reworked versions of tracks from the album. Get your tickets here.

Sofar Sessions @ Secret location | Thursday 12 August

Sofar Sounds are back, once again curating intimate shows across Bristol at secret locations, kicking things off in the city centre this month. This truly unique live setting will see three acts unlikely to be listed on the same bill elsewhere performing together.

If you're looking to experience live music in a brand new way, this one might be for you. Specifics, including location and performers, will be announced 36 hours before the event. Get tickets here.

Grandma’s House @ The Thunderbolt | Friday 13 August

Fierce post-punk trio Grandma’s House are bringing their booming back catalogue and electric live intensity to Totterdown.

With fellow Bristol natives Slagheap and Saloon Dion in support, a cacophony of thunderous noise and unruly energy is guaranteed. Advance tickets are sold out, but you can try your luck on the door.
