Utopia: FUZE Bristol's annual show confirmed to go ahead in June

Posted on: 07 May 2021

The student-run collective will be raising money for two local charities with the return of their flagship event.

Bristol-based collective FUZE have confirmed plans to go ahead with their annual show this year, having previously been forced to reschedule from March due to the coronavirus crisis.

Set to take place at Lakota Gardens on Thursday 3 & Friday 4 June, FUZE Utopia will represent a creative interpretation of the 'new normal' and explore ideas around perfection and beauty standards.

All proceeds from this year's show will be divided between Art Refuge and Black South West Network, with tickets for both dates on sale now via Eventbrite.

Launched in 2003 as an annual fashion show, FUZE is one of the UK’s largest student-run creative organisations. The project has developed over the years into a practical networking hub for creatives and a vital platform for young people in and around Bristol.

Well over 200 people now make up the FUZE community, from models and dancers to artists, musicians and designers, led by a core team of directors that change over each year.

Months of hard work and organisation go into their flagship annual event, an innovative fusion of music, fashion, performance art and more which usually takes place in the Spring but, in 2021, has been moved to June due to COVID-related restrictions.

The team proudly maintain a connection with their surroundings in Bristol, working with some of the city’s top venues and contributing to a wide range of local charities. Through various sponsored events, FUZE have raised money for Black South West Network, Art Refuge and Second Step among others, with donations totalling over £120,000 to date.

Inspired by FUZE's core values of creativity, sustainability, diversity and inclusion, FUZE's Utopia has been set up as a 'theatrical fashion musical', in which 'hybrid' models will dance, sing and perform across the Lakota Gardens stage.

Organised and choreographed by a team of multi-talented contributors, the show will combine performance art, fashion, music and theatre to create an unmissable immersive experience.

Despite the huge obstacles faced by the creative industries over the past 12 months, the FUZE team have worked tirelessly to put together a show that supports Bristol business, raises vital funds for their chosen charities and offers a platform for an extensive collective of creative students.

Tickets for FUZE Utopia are on sale now (Thursday 3 June here and Friday 4 June here), but are expected to sell out well in advance.
