Enjoy restaurant-quality dishes from the comfort of your own home.

Breaking Bread at Home, the recently-launched delivery service from the team behind last summer's pop-up dining experience on The Downs, has today (Friday 19 March) launched on the BARBI App.

With a view to supporting Bristol independents while many remain closed during lockdown, the new service is offering up delicious, freshly-made meals from some of the city's best-loved restaurants, including Bianchis, Salt & Malt and The Pony & Trap.

In recognition of the service's launch on the BARBI App, one lucky customer this weekend will be in line for a free sit-down meal for two once the full Breaking Bread pop-up returns in June, with an exclusive Golden Ticket to be included, at random, inside one order.

Led by renowned chefs Josh Eggleton and Ben Harvey, Breaking Bread at Home features a short-but-sweet selection of hearty, warming dishes to be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home.

The new project follows on from last year's hugely successful dining pop-up on The Downs, which saw the Breaking Bread team take up a three-month residency and provide employment opportunities for hundreds of local hospitality and events staff.

Their debut takeaway menu includes a Salt & Malt Fish Pie, Bianchis Smoked Mozzarella & Mushroom Lasagne and The Pony & Trap Cottage Pie, all prepped and assembled by the respective restaurant teams using fresh, seasonal ingredients.

While, at launch, Breaking Bread allowed customers to pre-order their takeaway meals ahead of weekly Friday night collection windows, dishes are now available for same-day delivery via the BARBI App.

Built by Bristol, for Bristol, the BARBI app offers drastically reduced commissions compared to the current market leaders, as well as increasing the low wages offered to delivery drivers and riders.

Offering commission rates of just 15% per order - down from as much as 35% from leading delivery apps - BARBI are looking to safeguard the future of Bristol's hospitality industry, ensuring businesses keep a much larger share of their income.

In an industry made up of more than 30,000 people and over 1,800 establishments in Bristol alone, support from within the community is vital.

For more information, or to download the BARBI App today via the iOS App Store or Google Play Store, head to the BARBI website or search 'barbiapp' (all one word).
