Bristol Sounds 2021 series cancelled, organisers confirm

Posted on: 23 Feb 2021

Full ticket refunds will be issued, with the team now looking ahead to summer 2022.

Organisers of this year's Bristol Sounds series have announced they've cancelled three shows that were due to take place in June, citing ongoing uncertainty in regards to COVID-19 and crowd safety.

The concerts had already been rescheduled from summer 2020, when the series was first called off due to the first UK lockdown, but it has now been confirmed that they will be unable to go ahead on the revised dates.

Those who had purchased tickets for either the 2020 or 2021 dates will be eligible for full refunds, which will be allocated over the course of the coming weeks.

Due to take place at the open-air Lloyds Amphitheatre, this year's Bristol Sounds series was set to welcome Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott, Supergrass and The Levellers to central Bristol for three eagerly-anticipated live performances in June.

Announcing the cancellation of the 2021 series today (Tuesday 23 February), Bristol Sounds organisers, Crosstown Concerts, said:

“We have come to the decision that June 2021 is too soon to be able to run an outdoor concert on the scale of Bristol Sounds.

“Although this is very disappointing for our team, our ticket holders and the whole supply chain which the event supports, we don’t want to compromise the gig going experience.

“We are already working on a really brilliant lineup for the 2022 edition and will be announcing details in the coming months.”

The statement goes on to confirm that tickets purchased directly from Crosstown will be automatically refunded.

Customers who had purchased their tickets from the now-defunct Bristol Ticket Shop are expected to receive their refunds in July 2021, and can get in touch via email for more details.

Bristol Sounds is expected to return from 23-26 June 2022. For more information on the series, or to follow news and updates, head to the Bristol Sounds website or find them on Twitter.
