The Louisiana are hosting another six live (streamed) gigs this week

Posted on: 08 Feb 2021

Catch exclusive live sets from some of Bristol's most exciting emerging acts.

Missing live music? So are we. Next month will mark a full year away from our favourite grassroots venues, and it may be a while still before the return of proper gigs in all their sweaty, crowded, familiar glory.

In an effort to fill the void for the time being, The Louisiana recently launched a new Live Sessions series, aiming to shine a light on emerging acts based in and around Bristol through intimate performances streamed live from the empty venue.

Having gotten underway in late January, the team are going full steam ahead this week, streaming six live shows from Tuesday 9 - Sunday 14 February, all available on a pay-what-you-like basis.

Despite facing major difficulties over the past 10 months as a result of the coronavirus crisis, money received via the government's Cultural Recovery Fund has allowed The Louisiana to provide a vital platform for local acts with their new Live Sessions series.

Emergency funding has enabled them to install a brand-new PA and lighting setup, as well as three new cameras, a brand-new console and more equipment, ensuring they're able to host quality, reliable virtual events.

With the series set to run throughout February and into March, bands and solo artists across the city have been asked to get involved and play a set, provided they're able to perform within their own bubble or household.

This week, catch sets from punchy three-piece Olanza (Tuesday), Bristol-based trio Droogs (Wednesday), DIY outfit Two Day Coma (Thursday), punk rockers IDestroy (Friday), heavy pop duo Masca (Saturday) and a Valentine's Day special from singer-songwriter Pete Westlund.

Sets will kick off at 20:00 every evening, streamed live via The Louisiana's Facebook page. Performances are free to access, with donations or voluntary ticket purchases encouraged while the venue remains closed to the public.
