Bristol City staff are on the run in support of Children's Hospice South West

Posted on: 11 Dec 2020

City staff are clocking up the k's as part of their annual festive fundraiser.

A team of Bristol City FC staff are well on the way to reaching their goal distance on this year's Santas on the Run event, a yearly effort to raise money for Children's Hospice South West.

Edging closer to their target of 1,894km - a nod to the year the club was established - the dedicated runners will be out on the road in central Bristol every day until their finishing point on 18 December.

All proceeds from this year's Santas on the Run will be donated directly to Children's Hospice South West, as they continue to provide care and support for children and families affected by life-threatening illnesses.

With just days remaining and over £1,000 raised so far, you can donate via the Santas on the Run JustGiving page.

Made up of six Santas and a gingerbread man, this year's running team have been hard at work on the way to a total distance of 1,894km. For comparison, that's the rough equivalent of running from Bristol to Reykjavik.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Bristol City's annual charity squad trip to Charlton Farm hospice was postponed this year, but the club still wants to show support for a charity that it's been working alongside for years.

All proceeds from the Santas on the Run challenge, with distances recorded by the running app STRAVA, will go to Children's Hospice South West, which provides the highest level of care, clinical expertise and enrichment opportunities for children with life-limiting conditions.

Follow the team's progress over on Bristol City's Twitter page, or head to their JustGiving page to make a donation.
