PRSC launch virtual People's Art Fair exhibition

PRSC launch virtual People's Art Fair exhibition

Explore a huge collection of work from Bristol-based artists this month.

The People's Republic of Stokes Croft have unveiled their first-ever virtual People's Art Fair, inviting art fans across Bristol and beyond to browse over 230 original pieces from the comfort of their own homes.

Initially due to launch in person in late November, the PRSC team had no choice but to postpone this year's winter Art Fair due to the recent lockdown.

The organisers expected to be able to open at their Jamaica Street HQ once lockdown had ended earlier this month, but Bristol's Tier 3 restrictions have forced them to move the exhibition online, available to access here until Sunday 20 December.

Consisting of a wide range of work submitted by over 40 artists, the 2020 winter People's Art Fair is one of the PRSC's biggest and most ambitious collections yet, featuring everything from spray painting and screen prints to metalwork, light installations, paper sculpture and much more.

The exhibition took the PRSC production crew two days to install, with a few more days of tireless work to build a functioning virtual gallery once the government's coronavirus restrictions had been announced.

With the backdrop of a tough winter, the ongoing coronavirus crisis and a bleak political climate, there's never been a better time to lighten the mood with some brilliant, Bristol-made artwork.

The People’s Art Fair is a real celebration of local creativity, featuring established local artists alongside young emerging talent exhibiting for the first time.

With pieces celebrating everyday beauty; or exploring issues of race or gender; challenging power dynamics; or capturing a fantasy on canvas, this show is guaranteed to offer up something for everyone.

If, like many of us, you're tired of viewing everything through a screen, the team will be opening up their gallery space for select viewings to allow people to see the incredible collection of artwork in its entirety.

With a full range of safety measures in place to minimise risk to visitors and staff, you can visit on Thursday 10 (16:00-20:00), Saturday 12 (12:00-18:00), Sunday 13 (12:00-18:00), Wednesday 16 (16:00-20:00), Saturday 19 (12:00-18:00) or Sunday 20 December (12:00-18:00).

The PRSC Winter People's Art Fair is available to browse online now - find out more and explore it here.
