Vote Bristol in the 2020 DJ Mag Best of British Awards

Posted on: 12 Nov 2020

There's a healthy selection of Bristol-based nominees up for this year's awards.

Nominations have been announced for the 2020 DJ Mag Best of British Awards, with an array of Bristol-based artists, labels and releases in the running.

Shining a light of the homegrown talent that keeps the UK at the forefront of electronic music, the Best of British Awards have been running annually for over a decade.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, this year's Best of British have been tweaked slightly, with nods to venues and events series replaced by categories for best stream series' and radio shows.

Voting for the 2020 Best of British Awards is open now until Wednesday 25 November, with the ceremony set to be live-streamed from DJ Mag HQ in December - head to the DJ Mag website to have your say.

Continuing a long run of heavy representation at DJ Mag's Best of British Awards, the Bristol scene is very much alive and kicking if this year's nominations are anything to go by.

Six Bristol-based nominees are in the running across six different categories, chosen from a multitude of musical genres and scenes from across the UK.

Livity Sound signee and Mix Nights mentor Danielle is up for the Breakthrough DJ award, while Bristol drum & bass veteran Krust receives a Best Album nod for The Edge of Everything, his first full-length record in over 14 years.

Despite founder and label boss DJ Autumn relocating to Berlin in 2020, Banoffee Pies Records still has its roots planted firmly in Bristol, and the multi-genre imprint is in the running to be crowned Best Label.

D&B label and events company Invicta Audio, meanwhile, has also been recognised among the best in the UK, nominated in the Breakthrough Labels category.

Bristol alumni Shanti Celeste, despite having also relocated in recent years, certainly gets our Best Remix vote for her dreamy rework of MJ Cole's 'Dizzy New Heights', an unreleased track produced as part of the UKG legend's Madrugada project.

Finally, the jury's out on where these lot are actually based - their Bandcamp bio says Bristol, their Twitter account says Berlin and their email address has 'Brighton' in it - but Sneaker Social Club's Foul Play compilation, Origins, is up for Best Compilation.

Just on the off chance they live somewhere with a BS postcode, you may as well sling them a vote too.

Voting for the 2020 DJ Mag Best of British Awards is open now until Wednesday 25 December. For more information, or to get your votes in, head to the DJ Mag website.
