Bristol's Cary Grant Comes Home festival is going virtual this month

Posted on: 11 Nov 2020

Cary Grant Comes Home is set to take place online for the very first time.

Organisers of the popular Cary Grant Comes Home festival have confirmed that this year's programme will take place online, with the full festival on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis and current lockdown.

Celebrating the life and times of a bonafide, Bristol-born movie star, the biennial festival offers a broad selection of film screenings, talks, Q&As, watch parties, challenges and much more.

For more information on Cary Grant Comes Home 2020, taking place from Friday 20 - Sunday 22 November, head to the festival's website.

Launched in 2014, Cary Grant Comes Home will be occupying new territory this year as it takes place entirely online for the very first time.

The theme for this year's festival will be 'Journeys', a nod to the 100th anniversary of Grant's initial relocation to the USA, which introduced him to a new audience overseas and cemented his place as a Hollywood superstar.

In line with the theme, several of the films to be shown this year feature plotlines centered around travel, including the headline screening of the 1957 hit, An Affair to Remember.

Among the speakers at Cary Grant Comes Home 2020 are author of an upcoming Cary Grant biography, Mark Glancy, UWE lecturer and pop culture researcher, Rehan Hyder, and festival founder and director, Charlotte Crofts.
