Popular Bristol restaurants to extend Eat Out to Help Out discount at own cost

The Hyde and Co-owned venues are encouraging people to ‘Keep Coming Out to Help Out’ throughout September.

The end of August is nearing, meaning the government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme is also drawing to a close.

The initiative has enabled those dining in at participating venues the chance to enjoy a 50% discount on food and non-alcoholic drinks up to the value of £10 per person.

The aim? To help stimulate the country’s hospitality industry, which has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, and to protect the industry’s 1.8 million employees.

The Eat Out to Help Out scheme has been available every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday throughout August.

So, diners have got just a few days left to take advantage of the scheme. Well, at most venues, anyway.

During the first two weeks of the scheme, more than 35 million discounted meals were claimed by businesses

Some popular Bristol venues have announced they will extend the Eat Out to Help Out discount throughout September.

It means diners can continue taking advantage of a 50% discount off food (up to the value of £10 per person) every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next month.

This time, of course, the offer won’t be government subsided. So, the venues are calling it the ‘Keep Coming Out to Help Out’ scheme.

Bristol venues continuing the discount at their own cost include the Hyde and Co-owned venues Bambalan, Seven Lucky Gods and The Ox.

Located inside Colston Tower, Bambalan is a North African and Mediterranean café, bar and nightspot with a terrace boasting views of central Bristol.

Expect fresh, flavoursome and healthy bites, complete with laidback dining and yummy, craft cocktails.

Seven Lucky Gods at Wapping Wharf is a Japanese inspired bar and restaurant, serving up sushi and Asian inspired small food.

At The Ox, enjoy top-notch steak in a basement bank vault, in the heart of the city centre.

During the first two weeks of the scheme, more than 35 million discounted meals were claimed by businesses, with more than 85,000 venues registered.

Now some are calling for the government to officially extend the scheme beyond August, including UKHospitality chief executive Kate Nicholls.

On Monday (24 August), Nicholls spoke on BBC Breakfast about the success of the scheme and the scope to extend it

While Bristol’s Hyde and Co venues may continue the discount at their own cost; other local sites will not be in a position to do so.

With that in mind, remember to support your favourite independent venues. Use them or lose 'em!
