Wapping Wharf’s CARGO welcomes three new indie businesses

Posted on: 24 Aug 2020

Get ready for yoga, pies, and Persian and Middle Eastern inspired grub at Wapping Wharf.

At Wapping Wharf, you’ll find CARGO: a collection of independent eateries, shops and lifestyle businesses inside converted shipping containers.

Over the weekend, the CARGO community welcomed three new inhabitants; a yoga studio, a pie shop and Jigaraki, a Persian and Middle Eastern inspired food trader.

Here’s what you need to know.

Elevate: Yoga Studio

Launched on Saturday (22 August), Elevate is a new yoga studio and creative space from Bristol-born artist and yoga teacher Ella Riggs.

Boasting yoga, meditation, sound healing and wellness workshops, plus spoken word and art events, Elevate will host a range of facilitators, teachers and practitioners.

The studio is open and accessible to all, with sessions both online and in-studio.

Ella has taken over the space formerly home to Pure Yoga, where she worked as studio manager and teacher.Elevate, Wapping Wharf

Buxton & Bird: pies from acclaimed chefs

Buxton & Bird sell restaurant-quality pies to eat in or takeaway, as well as pies to cook at home.

It’s a collaboration between Buxton Butchers and Freddy Bird, the former executive head chef of the Lido and co-owner of acclaimed Westbury Park restaurant, littlefrench.

Former littlefrench head chef Digby Littleboy is also involved in the venture.

“It’s very simple,” an Instagram post from Freddy explains. “Great pies, great beer with mash and gravy if you fancy.”

Buxton & Bird is open from Wednesday to Saturday between 12:00 and 22:00; and on Sundays, from 12:00 until 18:00.Buxton & Bird, Wapping Wharf

Jigaraki: Persian and Middle Eastern inspired street food

Inspired by small, Iranian food stalls and markets, Jigaraki is a Persian and Middle Eastern inspired eatery; serving up vibrant bowls and flatbreads.

Before opening in Wapping Wharf, Jigaraki toured summer festivals as a trader.

But now, the project’s range of flavoursome grilled and slow-cooked meats, plus various vegetarian and vegan options, have found a more permanent home in Bristol.
