Biffy Clyro announce intimate show at O2 Academy Bristol

Posted on: 07 Aug 2020

The tour will see the band return to venues that they haven’t played “in ten years or more.”

This is big: Biffy Clyro are set to perform in Bristol next Spring, as the band embark on a short run of dates at intimate venues across the UK.

The ‘Fingers Crossed’ tour will see the band perform at six UK venues across six nights, including the Bristol O2 Academy.

The tour begins in Liverpool on Sunday 11 April, and will round off in Bristol on Saturday 17 April 2021.

A pre-sale will open on Wednesday 19 August, and the general sale will go live on Friday, 21 August 2020.

More shows in Scotland and Europe will be announced in the coming days.

It’s pretty unusual to see Biffy Clyro play in such intimate venues; they’re a huge band, after all. Announcing the tour on their website, the band wrote:

“We’ve decided to announce a short run of dates at intimate venues for April 2021.

“These dates are not intended to replace the arena tour, but given the current uncertainty of large scale indoor arena shows in the UK, we feel they will give us the best chance to play live to our fans as soon as possible, ahead of the Download Festival next June.”

According to the website, the tour will see the band “return to venues that they haven’t played in ten years or more.”

Known for their anthemic alt-rock, the Scottish trio first rose to international prominence with the 2009 album Only Revolutions, a landmark release featuring hits like ‘Bubbles’, ‘Many of Horror’ and ‘Mountains.’

Only Revolutions soon went platinum in 2010 and earned a Mercury Prize nomination in 2012.

Since then, Biffy Clyro have gone onto release several more albums, usually playing arena-sized venues only. The band have also secured headlined slots at festivals like Reading and Leeds and Download Festival.

The band’s next album, A Celebration of Endings, will be released next week, on Friday 14 August.

Catch Biffy Clyro at the Bristol O2 Academy on Saturday 17 April 2021. Tickets go on sale Friday 21 August 2020.
