Basement 45 relaunch in-house DJ lessons

The club are taking bookings now for full courses and practice sessions.

Basement 45 have officially relaunched their DJ lessons and practice sessions, allowing DJs of all abilities to learn the ropes, improve their skills or just sharpen up post-lockdown.

With the club itself yet to open due to the coronavirus crisis, Basement 45 are now able to welcome DJs back through their doors for weekly sessions following more than four months of closure.

The Basement 45 team have established a range of new measures to minimise risk to attendees and staff during their time inside the club.

As well as regularly cleaning surfaces like equipment, door handles and toilets, the organisers ask that visitors wear a mask where possible, use hand sanitiser upon entry and before leaving, and register contact details in compliance with track and trace.

Having been running DJ courses for more than 21 years, the Basement 45 team have overseen the development of an array of local DJs, many of which have gone on to host and play at some of the city's best-loved parties.

Lessons run for an hour and can be carried out on a one-to-one basis, or as a small group (max. four people) provided all attendees are from the same household.

One-to-one lessons are available at £40 per person, or £20 per person for group bookings. Dates and times are flexible, and lessons can be adapted to cover all aspects of DJing, including beat matching, mixing, scratching, pitch control, looping, using EQ and more.

In response to the coronavirus crisis and subsequent closure of clubs, Basement 45 are also offering practice sessions for local DJs to refamiliarise themselves with a full club setup.

Practice sessions are available in one-hour (£15), two-hour (£25) and three-hour (£35) bookings, and make use of the club's three-deck setup (CDJ 2000s NXS2, Technics 1200s and a DJM 900 NXS2 Mixer).

Lessons are run by club owner Mark Davis, who himself has over 28 years' experience DJing. Before owning the club, Mark ran a DJ academy across more than 50 secondary schools, colleges and universities in the South West.
