Go bowling in Bristol from Saturday 1 August

Posted on: 20 Jul 2020

Update: Friday 31 July

Please note: due to an update in government guidlines, venues such as bowling alleys, casinos and skating rinks, that had been due to reopen on Saturday 1 August, will not be able to do so until at least Saturday 15 August.

Let the good times roll at local venues like The Lanes

Bowling alleys across the country can reopen from Saturday 1 August, thanks to a further easing of lockdown measures.

And in Bristol, we’ve struck lucky: local lanes will be reopening without delay. But expect things to look a bit different on your next visit.

No matter where you decide to play in the city, you’ll probably have to pre-book your game, limit the number of people you bowl with and wear your own shoes.

Here’s a list of bowling alleys in Bristol and what you need to know ahead of their reopening.

The Lanes

Bristol’s boutique bowling alley, The Lanes, is ready to welcome back bowlers from Saturday 1 August.

The city centre venue, located on Nelson Street, will also reopen its karaoke facilities on 1 August.

Head over to The Lanes website now to make that all-important advance booking.

Can’t wait until then? Head on down to enjoy a pizza and a pint in The Lanes’ glorious courtyard – the venue reopened last week as a bar and pizzeria.

Even better, The Summer Courtyard Cinema Club returns on Saturday 25 July. Grab a drink and watch a flick on a big, outdoor screen in a courtyard decorated with fairy lights.

Inside The Lanes

Tenpin

Tenpin is now taking advanced bookings from Saturday 1 August.

To give bowlers a better idea of what to expect at the alley, Tenpin has released some information on its website about its new, in-house safety measures.

At Tenpin, bowlers will be asked to wear their own shoes, order food and drink from a brand-new app and play in teams of no more than six per lane.

Find Tenpin inside the Avonmeads Retail Park, located in BS2.

Hollywood Bowl

Hollywood Bowl has two locations in Bristol: one at Cribbs Causeway, and one in Longwell Green. Both venues will reopen on Saturday 1 August.

Like Tenpin, Hollywood Bowl has released lots of information about its new, in-house safety measures.

They’ll reduce venue capacity and allow a maximum of six to bowl together. Visit the Hollywood Bowl website to find out more.
