Seamus O'Donnell's launch crowdfunder to secure pub's future

The pub's owners have been unable to secure any rent relief during the COVID-19 crisis.

The owners of the popular Seamus O'Donnell's pub in Bristol's Old City have launched an appeal for donations as they try to secure their future in the coming weeks.

The pub's landlords have declined to offer any rent relief during the COVID-19 lockdown, with their insurance provider also unwilling to pay out unless a staff member becomes ill on-site.

Facing huge bills and a total loss of income, owners Paul Brayford and Chris Odiorne are appealing for the Bristol public to help out in any way they can to protect their beloved Irish pub.

"We're a small, independent, pub and we've been here for 11 years," Paul explains on their GoFundMe page, "bringing entertainment and laughs with live music, entertainment and, as voted by you, the best Guinness in town.

"We hoped to be here for at least another 11 years, but with the current situation we don't know if that will be possible without your help."

Any and all donations are welcome, with almost a third of the £6,000 target raised so far. A staple of the St Nick's area, Seamus O'Donnell's hosts local live bands, pub quizzes and much more, and is widely regarded as the city's best Irish pub.
