Westonbirt Arboretum reopens to the public

Posted on: 03 Jun 2020

The popular beauty spot is back open to visitors following a temporary closure due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

Following a new update on government COVID-19 advice, Westonbirt Arboretum has confirmed it'll reopen today (Wednesday 3 June) from 13:00.

The Arboretum team have drawn up a new set of guidelines to ensure the safety of staff, visitors, and volunteers; the team have reduced the park's visitor capacity and introduced a new booking system.

The park ask that any and all visitors adhere to social distancing guidelines for the duration of any visit.

Anyone with any COVID-19 symptoms, or anyone who has come into contact with someone who has the virus in the last 14 days, is asked to remain at home.

As usual, dogs are welcome back at Westonbirt Arboretum, however all visitors are asked to keep their dogs on leads until further notice.

While most of the park will be open and accessible, the Arboretum team have taken the decision to close the crow's nest, gift shop, welcome building and play areas for the time being.

The STIHL Treetop Walkway will remain open, with a new one-way system.

Managed by Forestry England, the Westonbirt Arboretum is perhaps the most important and widely known arboretum in the United Kingdom.

Filled with 2,500 species of tree from all over the world, the arboretum plays a vital part in research and conservation, as well as being a stunningly beautiful place to visit.

Located in Gloucestershire, the Westonbirt Arboretum is under one hour's drive from Bristol's city centre.

All visitors and members of the Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum must pre-book a ticket in order to visit.

Find out more about the new booking system and book tickets here.
