A drive-in cinema is coming to Bristol: what we know so far

A feel-good cinema experience with a healthy dose of social distancing.

No cinema? No problem! This summer, a drive-in cinema is coming to Bristol.

With the help of outdoor cinema specialist Skylight Cinema, Ashton Gate’s Winterstoke Road car park is set to transform into a drive-in cinema this summer, offering a safe and enjoyable night out at the movies.

Taking place over four evenings (Friday 24 July, Saturday 25 July, Friday 21 August and Saturday 22 August), the drive-in cinema will play host to family-friendly films, subject to the latest government guidelines.

According to Ashton Gate’s recent announcement, movie-goers will be able to park up, order drinks and food and relax in their cars before a film begins.

Then, films will be shown on a 10m wide inflatable screen, complete with in-car Bluetooth speaker technology.

Full details of the films and how to book have not yet been announced but are due to follow shortly.

The news follows the announcement of a different drive-in cinema, @AtTheDriveIn, which is also due to arrive in Bristol in August.

As part of a UK tour, @AtTheDriveIn’s LED screen and food delivery app complete with roller waiters is set to stop off in Bristol between 27 and 30 August. The location has not yet been revealed.
